During An Upcoming Sunday Service

Greetings church family. One of our foundational commitments here at First Church is to provide a safe place for all. Part of that commitment is to make sure that those within our building are physically safe. As such, we are working alongside local emergency services to make sure we are prepared and protected. In the near future, we will be having a fire drill during worship. In the time leading up to that we will share information about what that procedure will look like to make sure everyone is prepared in the event of an emergency. Keep a lookout for announcements and instruction and thank you for helping us keep the First Church of Monson a safe place for all.

 

​​​Justice and Peace Coalition

Wednesday, October 21st at 6:30pm at First Church

In 1985, the United Church of Christ identified itself as a “Just Peace” denomination. “Just Peace” was defined as justice-doing and peace-seeking. Isaiah’s message calls us to act righteously and help the vulnerable; Jesus set the example for us to follow. Recently several deacons and Pastor Holly met to discuss what this means for us. We brainstormed several ways to learn about and promote justice and peace, from hosting speakers, doing good works, and sharing the message in the wider community. Our first get-together will be held on Wednesday, October 21 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at First Church. We will explain our purpose, have a “meet & greet,” and make lawn signs with peace and justice slogans. These signs will not be an endorsement of any political party or candidate. Please join us. Invite others. All are welcome.

Main Street Tavern Fundraising Night

Thursday, October 22nd, 4:00 to 10:00pm at Main Street Tavern, 218 Main St., Monson

First Church benefits whether you dine in or take out. Tavern Nights will continue throughout the year on the fourth Thursday of the month. Your support is greatly appreciated!  This months Tavern Night is hosted by the Pastor Parish Relationship Committee (PPRC).

Pioneer Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s

October 25th at Holyoke Community College

The Outreach Committee has been planning some fun activities for and October!  We are forming “Team First Church of Monson” which will participate in the Pioneer Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s on October 25 at Holyoke Community College. Think about either signing up to walk and get donations or simply support those who walk the 1.5 mile route. Registration for the walk can be done online (Click Here.)  Outreach continues to offer financial support to residents in the community who are having difficulty in buying food and fuel. If you know of a family struggling, please contact a member of the Outreach Committee, Janice, Elaine, Linda, or Janet.

Silent Movie: SPEEDY, Accompanied by Peter Krasinski On First Church's Organ

Saturday, November 14th at 7:00pm In The Sanctuary

On Saturday evening November 14, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. an impressive event will occur when our 1892 Johnson & Son Opus 781 pipe organ will be transformed into an orchestra and the classic film Speedy will be shown.  The film stars Harold Lloyd, a premier actor of that period, in one of his most endearing roles.  The film will be accompanied by Boston-based organist Peter Krasinski, whose original improvisation brings silent films to life in a way that is historically informed and uniquely enjoying.  ​​Admission for this event: $10 Adults, $5 Seniors and Students, Children under 12 free, Family cap of $40.

Mondays, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in The Fellowship Hall.

Join us for Bible Study on Mondays at 7 p.m. We will have continuous weekly Bible together. If you haven’t had the opportunity to come to a Bible Study, I cordially invite you to come and join the fun! Choir rehearsals for the adult choir

Thursdays, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. downstairs in the Sunday School area.

Adult Choir Rehearsal will be on Thursdays, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. downstairs in the Sunday School area. Anyone who loves to sing is welcome to sing with our choir. The choir is open to high school students, Grades 9-12. Please come and invite your friends.  ​​
